Troubleshooting Guide

NO POWER

To turn on the Vindor, push the switch in the back left toward the front of the instrument. Make sure you feel a little click. The light should turn blue and then green. If the light flashes green, that means that the battery is low. Try plugging it into the charger overnight.

NO SOUND ON SPEAKER

The Vindor ES1 has a built-in speaker that is enabled if it is not connected to a computer, phone, headphones, or amplifier.

  1. Make sure the power light is green.
  2. Disconnect the Vindor from any and all devices, headphones and amplifiers
    1. If this solves the problem, then just note that the Vindor will silence it’s speaker when connected to a device.
WRONG NOTE
  1. Turn the Vindor ES1 off.
  2. Make sure none of your fingers are touching any of the pads.
  3. Turn on the Vindor.
  4. Wait 3 seconds.
  5. Try again.
  6. If problem persists, it could be a problem with the custom fingering configuration. Perform a factory reset.
    1. Touch the top three pads and the bottom two pads.
    2. While touching the pads, press and release the white button on the top of the Vindor.
    3. The display should read “Factory Reset”.
  7. Wait until the Vindor restarts and try again.
HEAR TWO SOUNDS WHEN USING MIDI

When the Vindor is connected to computer, phone or iPad, it will present itself as both a MIDI device and an Audio device. Thus, any sound output generated by the computer will be mixed with the Vindor’s own sound and played back through the Vindor’s headphone or amplifier. This is desirable when you are playing along to music. But it is not desirable when you are using the computer to generate the sound, as with a Midi-compatible player.

To restore the audio device back to the computer follow these instructions:

  • Mac: Click on the speaker icon on the top menu bar and choose a different output.
  • Windows: Click on the speaker icon on the bottom right of the screen and choose a different output.
  • iPhone: You cannot change the device. However, you can plug in headphones to your phone and this will redirect the output of just the phone to the headphones.
SD CARD NOT WORKING

Support and use of the SD card is available as an update. Please update your firmware.

There is a bug in Windows 10 when the USB Audio device on the Vindor is disabled. If you are using an older firmware, this will show up as a “Code 10” in the Device Manager and the Vindor will not be accessible. Please contact Vindor support for a firmware update and procedure for fixing this.

WINDOWS DEVICE CODE 10

If you hear a low volume high pitch noise through the headphones when connected to USB, this could be due to a bug in the USB device driver.

HIGH PITCH NOISE

Conditions of bug:

  1. Listening through headphones, you hear faint high pitch.
  2. Connected to USB.
    1. On Windows, the noise is there all the time
    2. On Mac, it is there when your DAW or other audio application is open

Fix:

  • If you are only using MIDI, disable the USB Audio device on the Vindor.
Menu: Sys / Audio / Off
  • If you need USB Audio support, don’t use Vindor as an input device. This setting is application dependent. The bug only manifests when Vindor is providing input to the computer.
  • FACTORY RESET

Many problems can be solved by performing a factory reset.

    Using menu: Sys / Erase.

    Using keys:

    1. Touch the top three pads and the bottom two pads.
    2. While touching the pads, press and release the white button on the top of the Vindor.
    3. The display should read “Factory Reset”.
    4. Wait until the Vindor restarts and try again.
